Riding day 9: Around Torres del Paine

In the morning we took off the side backs from our bikes. We stayed in the same hotel for two nights so we were able to leave all the heavy stuff there and enjoy the bikes without extra weight.

We headed to the Torres del Paine national park from the southern route. When the first gravel roads started we immediately noticed that this place will be something extraordinary.

Before heading to the park it self, we stopped for a pizza and saw the first glimpse of the famous Three Torres. It was tasty.

After a short nap we continued our way into the park. The entrance fee was about 25€ which we gladly paid because the park and the roads were in great condition.

Riding forwards the views got better by every kilometer we rode. They say that Torres del Paine is the jewel of the Patagonian crown and this might be an understatement especially if you enjoy it on the saddle of a motorbike. Riding a motorbike just cannot get any better than this. The combination of wide-ranging gravel and paved roads, breathtaking sceneries, waterfalls, snow cowered peaks, glaciers etc. gave us one of the most enjoyable moments in the whole trip so far. And we had already seen a lot.

Running with Llamas

If you are planning a similar trip to this part of the world, or anywhere in particular, you might be thinking about speed limits. In Patagonia, Chile and Argentina there are speed limits, but we didn't really see anyone following them. There are a lot of Sunday drivers on the road, but also some crazy ones who will be hanging on your tail until they'll get the chance to pass.

After the national park, we headed back to Puerto Natales and enjoyed the rest of the night with a nice dinner and some rom. Natales is an idyllic small town with a lively boulevard next to the coast. Here you can rest your brain after a heavy day on the bikes.
